What is cosmetic mole removal?
Cosmetic mole removal in London means something specific to us: removing benign moles, skin tags and small lesions for how they look, performed to the same surgical standard as a clinical excision. Our two London clinics — Harley Street in the heart of the W1 medical district, and Queen Street two minutes from Mansion House — share the same consultants, the same theatre kit, and the same fixed self-pay fee.
Most patients are within thirty minutes of one of the two locations. Marylebone, Mayfair, Fitzrovia, Soho and Bloomsbury sit closest to Harley Street; the City clinic suits patients arriving from Bank, Cannon Street, Liverpool Street or anywhere south of the river via Mansion House. Same-day removal is common when the diary allows, and stitch removal is a five-minute follow-up booked at the same time as the procedure.
Every cosmetic case begins with a brief dermatoscopic check. If the lesion is unambiguously benign we proceed; if anything atypical is seen we switch the appointment to a Skin Cancer Check (£250) and route the lesion through histology. Your safety always sits ahead of cosmetic timing.

How we remove moles
There is no single best way to remove a mole, the right technique depends on whether it's raised or flat, where it sits, and whether tissue needs to be sent for histology. Your consultant will recommend the option that produces the best cosmetic result.
Full-thickness ellipse excision with fine sutures. Best for flat or deeper moles, and any lesion where histology is wanted. Produces a thin linear scar that fades over 6–12 months.
Raised, dome-shaped benign moles trimmed flush with the skin under local anaesthetic. No stitches, faster healing, leaves a flat pale circle that fades over weeks.
Precise heat-based removal of small superficial benign lesions, skin tags, cherry angiomas, fibroepithelial polyps. Quick, minimal downtime, no stitches.
Liquid-nitrogen freezing for very small, superficial benign lesions only. We use it sparingly because it cannot reach the deeper portion of most moles.
Laser cannot reach the deeper portion of a mole and destroys the tissue, which means no sample can be sent for histology. We never recommend laser for moles, even cosmetically.
Understanding the procedure
A short read covering the parts patients most often ask about. If anything's unclear after this, the FAQ section below has more, or call us on 020 3051 1832.
A benign mole that's already been examined and confirmed as low-risk doesn't need to come off, but plenty of patients have a perfectly valid reason to want it gone. Most fall into one of three groups: visible-area lesions (face, neck, hands, décolletage) that show up in photos and meetings; raised moles that catch on razors, collars, jewellery or shoulder bags; or long-standing moles that just affect how someone feels about their appearance.
Aesthetic preference is, in itself, a reason. We treat cosmetic removal with the same surgical rigour as a clinical excision, same consultant, same theatre, same fine-suture technique, but the decision to proceed is yours. The only criteria we apply are clinical: the lesion must be confirmed benign first, and it must be appropriate for the technique we're recommending.
If a dermatoscopic check during your consultation flags any concern, we'll switch the appointment to a Skin Cancer Check (£250) and route the lesion through histology. Your safety always takes priority over cosmetic timing.
Who it's for
01
Facial moles or moles on the neck, hands, or chest that you'd rather not have on display in photos or day-to-day.
02
Raised moles or skin tags that catch on razors, collars, bra straps, jewellery or shoulder bags.
03
A long-standing mole that affects how you feel about your appearance, with no clinical reason it has to stay.
04
Moles you've previously had checked and confirmed as benign, where you now want them removed.
05
Small, benign growths that aren't moles per se but bother you cosmetically, same-day treatable.
06
Allow 4–6 weeks before a wedding, big event or holiday for the area to fully settle.
What to expect
A 30-minute cosmetic consultation with your consultant. We'll examine the lesion using dermatoscopy, confirm it's appropriate for cosmetic removal, and walk you through technique options and likely scarring.
The area is numbed with a small injection of local anaesthetic. You'll feel a brief pinch, then nothing, most patients describe the procedure itself as completely pain-free.
Depending on the lesion, your consultant will use shave excision, fine-suture surgical excision, electrocautery or selective cryotherapy, whichever produces the best cosmetic result. We don't use laser for moles: it can't reach the deeper part of the lesion and prevents histology.
The site is cleaned and dressed. You'll leave with written aftercare and a complimentary follow-up to check healing and remove any non-dissolvable sutures.

"Excellent service, and care. I had a wart removal on my eyelid, procedure was quick and pain free (even that I was a little bit scared). Dr Mohsan, Kay (assistant), Aoife (receptionist) were very professional and reassuring. I highly recommend this clinic."

"Thank you Dr Reza and Kay for being amazing. I've always wanted my mole removed and thought long and hard about it and put the time in to research where to go as it is a big deal when it's on your face. I made the right decision! Incredibly professional, did a wonderful job and really helpful with the aftercare. This is a 5 star review as it was a 5 star job. If you're thinking about braving it, get it done. So happy with the results!"

"I thought I would wait a few weeks before doing a review, so I could give a proper account. I had a Seborrheic Keratoses growth on the side of my face that had been bothering me for 2-3 years. I had tried all the usual creams to no effect. I decided to take the plunge and get it removed and opted for the clinic based on previous reviews. The whole process was very professional from start to finish, and the process, and what I could expect, were clearly described to me. Four weeks later I'm wondering why I didn't do it sooner, it's also been a tremendous confidence booster. The process was quick and painless, and after a few weeks of healing it has all but disappeared. I'm very happy with the results. I will definitely go back for a few other bits and bobs that need sorting."

"Really fantastic experience. It can be nerve-wracking coming along for something like this (lesion removal) but Dr Georgios was incredibly sensitive, kind and thorough in explaining my options and I felt very reassured and relaxed throughout. I didn't feel a thing during the procedure and it was all so easy and efficient! The nursing and admin staff were fantastic and friendly too. Highly recommended and I'm so glad I made that booking!"

"Super efficient and reliable. Before even going to my appointment my emails and queries were replied to very quickly. I went to have a mole removed and the environment was so friendly; Angelica the receptionist was so welcoming and both the assistant Kay and Dr Sarah made me feel very comfortable. The procedure was quick and all of my questions answered. I know I can come back should anything go wrong. Would definitely recommend!"
